Frequently Asked Questions
Why See a Registered Psychotherapist?
Registered Psychotherapist can help support you in a way that is unique to you to help you work through situations that you are going through in your life. During this unique relationship you can expect to feel in control of your situation, guided, and safe. A RP is here to help you achieve set goals, without telling you what to do, but by gently making suggestions, and reflection based upon what is talked about in session. This is a shared journey where you are the driver and the RP is in the passenger seat helping you navigate.
What Does The First Session Look Like?
The first session is spent building rapport, hearing out your concerns and goals for therapy. In this session a lot of information will be gathered so I am able to understand what the challenge is from your point of view and how I can help guide you to the space that you want to be in. This is your time to share your story with me and for you to also determine if you feel like we are a good fit. Do you feel safe with me? Do you feel trust? This is very important to consider when working with a new therapist.
Time and Frequency
Therapy sessions are 50 minutes long. I recommend in the beginning to come once a week, this will allow for us to develop our therapeutic relationship and gain momentum towards your goals.
How Long Does Therapy Last?
Therapy can last for one session, to several sessions (months/years)- it all depends on your goals and what you are looking for and how that changes over time.
Do You Accept Insurance?
I do not do direct billing for insurance, however many insurance companies have coverage for Registered Psychotherapists. You will be provided with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement. Please check with your provider before starting psychotherapy to ensure you are covered.
What is Your Cancellation Policy?
24 hour notice for cancellations or adjustments that are needed to be made to existing appointments. If this falls outside of this window, sessions will have to be paid for in full.
